The problem with the proposal
Do you live in or travel through North Wakefield?
If so, then you WILL BE AFFECTED by the new ONE WAY SYSTEM (URBAN MOTORWAY)
The plan includes:
- REDUCING PAVEMENT WIDTH on Bradford and Leeds Roads
- WIDENING Bradford Road to THREE LANES and making it ONE WAY OUT OF TOWN
- WIDENING Leeds Road to THREE LANES and making it ONE WAY INTO TOWN
How might this affect you?
…Forced into RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC…
You may have to join heavy traffic travelling the wrong direction to get to where you’re going.
…Bus stops FURTHER AWAY…
Bus users may have to walk further and cross up to 6 lanes of traffic.
…Quiet residential streets become part of an URBAN MOTORWAY…
Precious conservation areas will become WELL-USED THOROUGHFARES.
…Safety compromised…
Emergency vehicles will have to take a longer journey through the one-way system in an emergency.
