The property is situated in the Limousin region, half an hour away from Limoges’ Bellegarde airport (Regular flights from Stansted, Liverpool, Nottingham, and Southampton, and many internal French flights).
The hamlet is called Roche , in the commune of Bussiere-Boffy (87330 post code). It is located in the department of Haute-Vienne, but sits very close to the border with La Charente. It is about 20 km from each of St Junien, Bellac, Oradour-sur-Glane, and Confolens.
The nearest commercial centre is the little village of Nouic (4 km) with butcher, baker, hairdressers, grocer, pharmacy, school, etc.
Roche is featured in the local guidebooks as a place of geological and folkloric interest, as well as for its beauty. Unusual bulbous granite formations give Roche its unique character (as well as its name).
This is a very beautiful rural area, with most land being either woodland or farmland. The local industry is principally livestock farming. The landscape is wooded, hilly and verdant, with a very low population density. There are bridleways and footpaths covering hundreds of kilometres starting from Roche, with almost no need to use public roads.
